09.09.2021 Pain & Movement Workshop at AZA -Art Zenter Academy

On the 09th of September 2021, we held a workshop on how to work with pain and how to bring more light into processes of living with the pain. Our focus was to give a better understanding of differences between pain and suffering, explaining contemporary treatments of chronic pain, and mechanism of pain experiences.

The main questions we tackled were how to deal daily with our pain, how to work with pain embodiment, how to interact in our social environment when we are in pain, and with our diversity of emotions and states of mind, with a deeper understanding of our pain; how to embrace it, to reduce it, and, in the best of the scenarios, make it disappear from our lives.

We also gave practical, easy to apply, exercises which help to reduce pain: art therapy practices with plasticine and collaging, and a short demo class of MYKO (My Yoga Kaizen Online) where we showed that, even people older than 70 years old, like the one participant in the workshop, can practice and get benefits from MYKO, and in general from My Happy Pain concept. We explored altogether the importance of being the observer of our lives, imaging that we are in the cinema where you are the super star and your life story connected with your pain is the main topic of the movie. Finally we went through a wellness and motivational words to encourage the participants to make decisions from love and not from fear, reinforcing the idea, which all of us listened so many times, that the most important thing in life is the ATTITUDE to pain, problems, situations…appearing in our lives. So, keep ourselves positives is a great tool to reduce and canalize our pain better.

From this post, we want to thank the organizers of this workshop, the associations Mielen Portti, TrapesaFiloksenia and Perhelinna, with special mention to Raisa Lindroos, Irina Preis and Clara Vázquez, likewise the participants in this workshop who opened their hearts and shared with us their pain, suffering, thoughts, fears, tears, laughs and, with no exception, all of them, shared their good vibes and attitude towards actions to understand, embrace and accept their pain.

Thanks for this amazing experience and let’s continue growing and learning together to do this world a place with less pain and more awareness.
